Listen and Donate

21 Mar

Hello everyone!

Anther week, new tasks in my quest to test the world box of happiness! Here are my first thoughts about my new tasks:

Task 5:

This week, listen with full attention and sincere to two people for at least ten minutes, who you normally do not listen to.

Listen to two people who you normally do not listen to. This does not sound that complicated, however this might be a lot more difficult than it sounds like. People who know me and have met me would probably say I am a person that talks a lot. I know I talk a lot and people sometimes wish I would shut up more, I am pretty sure of that. But people who know me a bit better and my friends also know that I can listen very well. Besides the fact that I speak a lot, people also tell me a lot. People seem to trust me easily with their problems or secrets. I really like that. One of my friends once told me it’s because I am very open and talk about serious stuff rather easy, which gives others the feeling they can and want to share a lot with me. So where do I find two people I normally do not listen to?

One of my closer friends suggested reformulating it into something that fits better. I sometimes tend to do a lot of things at the same time. Especially when I am writing or reading something in one language and my friend talks to me in another I completely shut out what they are saying. I could watch out for these moments and then pay more attention to the person who is talking to me. This might in general also not be such a bad idea. I also tend to not listen or at least not sincere to people who talk very negative constantly. If they are having a bad day that is no problem but if they tend to get stuck in negative thought patterns I tend to just shut them out instead of listening or even talking about it. That is probably a good option, pay attention and be sincere towards them.

I could also speak with some people you normally take for granted and do not really pay attention to. Like cleaning personal, people who are homeless who, I must admit, sometimes frighten me, or sales persons who I mostly try to avoid. That could also be a possibility and maybe would be a nice twist. Well, we’ll see what comes my way with this task.

Task 6:

Think about some good causes or charities to which you could donate something. Give.

Very concrete this week: think about charities to which you would like to donate something. As I said in my one of my previous posts, I just cleaned my room a lot and donated some stuff to charity. This morning I already brainstormed with a friend and we somehow only thought about donating money, but of course other things would be possible as well. The only problem is that since I just threw out half of my stuff I do not have many things left I could donate. We also concluded the charity should somehow have a connection to happiness and fit with this blog. That was a very nice because it narrows down my search.

I also donated blood just last week, which is also for a good cause. I did it a day before I got my tattoo on purpose, because now I am not allowed to donated anymore for at least half a year. But that was last week. Now a new week has arrived and I will search for some nice charities that will fit my cause of finding happiness.

I wish you a lovely evening,

Love,

Anne-Sophie

Go buy some coloring books and donate them to me! I’ll take them directly to the kids in South Africa?!
