week 17

Hallo everyone,

Time is flying by, all of a sudden it was Friday and I had totally forgotten to write a post. Yes, holidays make stuff like that a little more difficult. Somehow all the days are twisted within each other and you can keep track anymore. Even though I do not have holidays yet, I am at my parents’ house, which sort of causes the same effect. So, my apologies for the delay.

As for the grading of this week: it is nice to be back here. How easily we all return in the old habits of being a family living in the same household. However, there is also some chaos going on as my little sister is moving out, today actually. And my parents are moving out at the end of this month as well. Half of the stuff is going to my sisters new place so in a couple of hours there is no kitchen table at which I can sit and write and I will have to sit on the floor.

Oh, hold on a second, the little one is sleeping so I have to get up and help moving stuff.

Okay, several hours later, I am back. I have tried to fulfill my duties as sister and auntie. So, where was I? Oh yes, grading my week. Well it was a very nice week. I had a great goodbye party, which was a lot of fun. I have had a lot of goodbyes though, which are really sad. Each one adds a little more to the pile of sadness and I am sure in a view more weeks I will eventually start to cry. Until now I dealt with them pretty well, I guess. So, let’s say this week gets a 7,5.

Now let’s have a look at my tasks:

Task 33:

Sleep every night an hour longer then you normally do

This turned out a little more difficult than I thought. First of all there was Thursday night. This night was my own goodbye party and I ended up going to bed around 2:30 am. I slept until 10, which is my usual 7,5 hours of sleep. So, the first night I failed to add an extra hour. Friday night our lovely André Rieu was playing on the Vrijthof. At the end of his show around midnight he likes to play with fireworks. All nice and good but I kept me from going to bed before midnight those to nights in a row. Since I automatically wake up between 7:30 and 8:30, I again failed to add the extra hour. On Sunday I could have had a fair chance since André was not playing and I did not go to any party, however, I still had to say goodbye to a friend of mine which could only be done at 0:45 am so I again did not add the extra hour. On Monday I was at a friends birthday party so again I failed. I must say I would never have thought that this task would be this difficult for me. I think the following nights it did work since I stayed in bed longer instead of getting up immediately. It did not result in a more positive or happy effect though, which made be because this task would really be good for someone who is normally sleep-deprived. However, I almost always sleep around 8 hours, which is perfect for me. So, did you guys try it? Did it have a positive effect?

Task 34:

Look for clubs and associations in your neighbourhood and join one.

As I said last week, I will do this when I have moved to London. I will give you an update then :). That was last week, not quite so successful when you look at my tasks, still it was a nice week. So let’s have a look at my new tasks for week 18:

Week 18:

* Ask for the opinion of someone who is very much younger or older then you.

** Keep a diary from now onwards. Write down three positive experiences of every day.

Opinions and diaries. I like the opinion task. Let’s see what people who are a lot younger or older then me think and in how far they think differently then me. I’ll see where I find these people. Keeping a diary is I think a more difficult task. I have started diaries every once in a while, but I was never really able to keep going on them. Maybe it’s a good think to start again and to try to keep it up. Let’s see in how far this works.
